The Israeli and Iranian authorities, with Russian mediation, are conducting indirect negotiations in which the parties agree to refrain from attacking each other.
As the Washington Post reported, citing diplomats and regional officials with knowledge, the exchange of messages intensified in late December following a visit by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to Moscow.
According to the publication, Israel conveyed through Russian channels that it would not strike first unless Iran also proved aggressive. The Iranian side offered similar assurances but handled them cautiously out of concern that there could be a coordinated attack from the US while Israel is focused on confronting the Hezbollah movement.
Previously there was information that Iran closed airspace.
