Video game industry expert Yaroslav Meshalkin said on NSN: Video game audiences care about the quality of the product, ideology is an important superstructure to build organically.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy Mikhail Delyagin previously proposed developing a game similar to the game Call of Duty – a domestic AAA shooter with the main characters being Russian military or intelligence officers and “rivals and targets – representatives of unfriendly countries (Ukraine, England, USA, France and others).” Meshalkin noted that to create a high-quality Russian game would require large funds.
“Our developers have a lot of opportunities in terms of talent and skills if they are given the right funding. But to my knowledge, this is only possible with large-scale support from the state – almost at the level of a national project – or some interested corporation. As for the audience, they always ask for only one thing: a high-quality product that is fun to play. Everything else – ideology, etc. – is a superstructure. layer, its customers are certainly not the audience. And creating this add-on organically is quite difficult; it requires a significant amount of talent and involvement of high-level communication experts, because without these components we risk getting a product that no one cares about, created for show and not for the end user again, the quality of the product and its playability will always come first,” said the interlocutor of NSN.
In turn, Elena Skarzhinskaya, candidate of pedagogical sciences, deputy director of scientific and methodological support of the sports school “Digital Sports Center” in the surgical field, thanked Mikhail Delyagin for drawing attention to the topic of creating and promoting domestic shooters.
“Many thanks to the deputy minister for being confused by this. Over the past few years, State Duma deputies have repeatedly approached this topic from one side or another. This is a concrete proposal not only for a domestic game, but especially for a shooter with a suitable setting. There are domestic shooters. There are companies that create them. However, in addition to development, money is also needed for marketing. In addition to classic video games, we need the metaverse of play game, multi-level open world. We need to understand this and work in this direction: Legislative acts are needed not only for the development, but also for the distribution and promotion of video games in the country, including abroad.
Previously, Mikhail Pimenov, director of game industry development at Synergy University, told NSN that domestic development of Roblox would require billions of rubles and more than a year, so a replacement for the platform will not appear “tomorrow”.
