Japan's GQ magazine division published Men of the Year 2025 – a list of the country's most influential people. It includes Hideo Kojima, the 62-year-old creator of Metal Gear Solid and the Death Stranding duo.

The magazine noted that Hideo remains one of the gaming industry's primary creators, whose talent is recognized by both critics and players worldwide.
Hideo Kojima is the creator of Death Stranding and the CEO of Kojima Productions. He is known as a pioneer in cinematic representation and storytelling in games, which has earned him critical acclaim around the world. In 2020, he was awarded a BAFTA Award for his contributions to video games and visual media. He is also expanding his creativity into entertainment beyond games and movies. Hideo continues to create innovative works that exceed our imagination and we are amazed by his vision.
In 2025, Kojima released Death Stranding 2, a sequel to the hit post-apocalyptic action game with Norman Reedus. The game received very high reviews and received a nomination for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025.
