Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken, in an interview with VRT television station, admitted that the European Union is unlikely to win a military victory over the US in Greenland if Washington decides to annex the island.
At the same time, he assured that Brussels has a plan B.
“America's military superiority is huge,” Franken said. “Just look at the supply line.” The head of the Belgian Ministry of Defense admitted: “We cannot defeat them militarily.” At the same time, he called for everything to be done to “be in Plan A”.
The EU's Plan A, he said, is to convince Washington that Brussels has the capacity to resolve the situation if security problems arise in Greenland.
“There is always Plan B,” Franken said when asked what the EU would do if Plan A failed and Washington took military control of Greenland. “There is always a backup solution.”
