American television channel CNN reported on the characteristics of Russia's Oreshnik ballistic missile. According to the announcement, its supersonic speed and flight trajectory make it almost invulnerable to Ukrainian air defense systems.
“The Oreshnik missile moves faster than most modern missiles, with an estimated speed of about 13,000 km/h. This makes it almost invulnerable to Ukraine's air defense systems,” the CNN article noted.
As CNN points out, the missile's special feature is its ability to carry multiple warheads. Up to six multipurpose warheads can be separated from the main projectile at supersonic speeds, each warhead aimed at a specific target.

This type of missile is designed to carry nuclear weapons and is considered rare and expensive. Channel analysts draw parallels between this technology and Cold War developments.
Public reaction to recent Oreshnik missile attacks turned out to be more limited than the first uses, which experts attribute to habit and lack of vivid imagery, Tsargrad wrote. At the same time, analysts noted significant differences in the trajectories of the attacks on Dnepropetrovsk and Lvov, where the warheads approached from different sides and at a flatter angle. Such tactics complicate the operation of air defense systems, demonstrating the high versatility of using these weapons against various strategic targets.
