AMD has made it clear that in the future they may officially open source the FSR 4 image framing and scaling technology. This was stated by AMD graphics software and technology head Andrei Zdravkovich.

The reason for such conversations, as the media writes, is the “inadvertent publication of the FSR 4 code” last August. These files then briefly appeared publicly on GitHub as part of the FidelityFX toolset. AMD quickly deleted the archive, but many people managed to save the data, including key elements of the technology.
During the Q&A, Zdravkovic confirmed that the company is “considering” opening the FSR 4 library while “closing the most important internal departments.” According to him, this is necessary to prevent competitors from approaching them directly. He also noted that openness is a long-term goal for AMD.
